Southern Labradoodle Trust Show 18th July 2009

It was a great honour to be asked to judge the Labradoodle Trust Southern show with Jan and Jane in a fantastic location in the New Forest. A huge number of doodles turned up with families and their non-doodle friends to take part in the event. They were a joy to judge, all so friendly and happy to meet us. The classes were enormous and everyone looked to be having a great time.

Mia did a super job of organising and there was a really fun demonstration by Solent Dog Display Team during lunch time with a combination of agility and obedience by a multi breed demonstration team. It was great to see some very unlikely dogs really enjoying their agility - I’ve never seen an Akita doing agility before. Several doodles were seen having fun over some small jumps at the end of the field afterwards, my Sadie was jumping for joy too. It was great for people to meet up with the other mums and dads and dogs they had only met online and real friendships were made camping together. Thank you everyone who came up to say hello, it was good to meet you all.

We mustn’t forget what it was all for and many visitors came away with honest information about the Labradoodle, and the event was also financially very successful so that the Trust can carry on with its work.

There is a lovely picture above of our Best In Show, the glamorous silver Belle who charmed judges and onlookers alike, congratulations to all Class winners, particularly the black Nirvana (Reserve Best In Show) and in fact everyone who took part.

I’m sure this highly successful show will be first of many.
